Today our maths group was down with Miss Wesley and we were learning about algebra. We were working out of a figure-it-out book. We are looking at triangular numbers and how to find out the formula that would give us the answer no matter how big the base of the triangle is. Sometimes it's easier to use 'x' or another letter in the equation to represent a number. This number is called a variable.

  1. This makes it much easier Anna if we are dealing with really big numbers doesn't it. Far easier than trying to count all the blocks in that wall. I thought it was interesting watching your group today when you thought you had worked out your answers and you then realised that you had forgotten an important part. I especially like that way your maths group is willing to keep trying...that you dust yourselves off, get up and have another go.
